11. Glossary of Terms
Welcome to our Planet Friendly page. Here you'll find out how Greenpod became the world's first manufacturer to pioneer low-zero carbon footprint office consumables, and about the many projects we're involved in from carbon offsetting to the development of bio-degradeable and compostable packaging for our products, all designed to help you reduce your carbon footprint.
We hope you'll enjoy reading all about it and look forward to receiving any suggestions you may have to help us all do our bit for the environment. Please email planetfriendly@greenpod.co.uk. Thank you.
We know that harmful carbon emissions released into the atmosphere contribute to global warming and in turn have a negative affect on climate change.
At Greenpod HQ we have a sole purpose and that is to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint, by manufacturing and suppling the highest quality, planet friendly, everyday office consumables, with a low-zero carbon footprint at no extra cost or incovenience to our customers.
4. Our Problem
All products manufactured in this world come with a carbon footprint.
In order to achieve a low-zero carbon footprint for our products we had to take a very close look at how we sourced, manufactured, packaged and delivered our products, whilst continuing to maintain our highest quality and performance standards at all times.
Every part of the supply chain mattered. We needed to source our raw materials locally where possible in order to keep the carbon footprint attached to delivery to a minimum. We also needed to ensure that energy consumed in the manufacturing process was used efficiently, and that we sourced packaging materials which were not only recyclable but where possible already recycled.
We knew that excessive packaging was a real waste and ended up in landfill sites, so we decided that a "one size fits all" policy was not for us and needed to look closer at the design and amount of packaging we used to see how we could make it more planet friendly.
Lastly we needed to find partners who could help us deliver our products to our customers with the least amount of carbon footprint related to transportation and delivery.
As part of our drive to reduce the carbon footprint of our products to a low-zero level we need to carbon offset the remaining carbon emissions produced in the manufacture and delivery of our products. The British Standards Institution PAS 2050 Standards for Carbon Footprinting document is the blueprint for our carbon offsetting.
